(Overview)

An offline-first booking and triage tool for a network of 30 clinics across East Africa, used by nurses and patients alike.

(The problem)

Kora's clinics booked appointments on paper. Patients travelled for hours to find the doctor fully booked. Nurses spent their mornings managing crowds instead of caring for people.

(The process)

I mapped the full service — from a patient's first symptom to their follow-up call — with nurses, receptionists and community health workers. Every screen was tested one-handed, in bright sunlight, on a five-year-old tablet.

The Kora design system: 48 components, built for low-contrast screens and large touch targets.

(The solution)

Patients book with a simple SMS or USSD code. Nurses see the day as a colour-coded queue by urgency. Everything works offline and syncs quietly when a connection returns.
